There are so many wonderful educational resoures, strategies, and ideas that I stumble upon each day. However, there is not much time for me to share all that I find with teachers. I can send e-mail after e-mail sharing information but that can just be too overwhelming. Beleive me..my box is overflowing each day. Therefore, I decided to create this website as a way to share what I am learning. However, not every teacher has time to search a website either. So I also created a bulliten board I named "Information Station". There are six categories and I change the information weekly. The categories include:
Inspiration (Educators can always be inspired just like students!)
Strategy of the Week (I try to make this applicable to all grade levels.)
Tip of the week (Recently I've focused on Math Talk.)
Behavior Management (Tips!)
21st Century Learning (There is so much new information I feel we teachers need to be knowledagle about what it means.
It's been a few days since I've blogged last. I have learned a lot as an educator in the past couple of days. Most importantly the importance of Teachers being Leaders. It is my goal for the rest of the school year to ENCOURAGE and MENTOR you in examining your own TEACHING and INSTRUCTION. I hope to GUIDE you and INSPIRE you to know that as a teacher you are a leader! For this you should be PRAISED!!! Let's begin with some reflection... What is a Teacher Leader? (Please feel free to share your reflections by making a comment to this post.)
There is no doubt in my mind that it takes a village to raise a child. Today has been the second day (of four) working with classroom teachers, school support staff, and school administration to assess student fluency. It amazes me how smooth things go when people work together. It is exciting to know that collaboration and communication are part of the Learning and Innovation component of the 21st Century Learning Framework. Working together is so important in today's world and so much can be accomplished when we collaborate. I am proud of the collaboration that has occurred the past two days at Olds Elementary! It shines!
As we begin our 7th day of 2013 have you taken some time to reflect on the areas in your teaching that you want to improve? Perhaps you want to create a class bog, work on integrating content, focus on literature study circles, or continue to grapple with the Common Core State Standards through use of effective strategies? Whatever it is that you hope to accomplish in your personal pedagogy during 2013, I wish you the best of luck on your teaching and learning journey! Please remember that I am here to help you in any way and always please feel free to grab me in the hall, send me an e-mail, or even post a comment on this web-site. I am here for you! My 2013 resolution is to continue to support you in the many, many new curricular and instructional shifts that we teachers must learn and apply in today's 21st Century world of Education.
Here are just a few thoughts to keep in mind when reflecting upon your 2013 teaching New Year’s Resolutions: 1. What is my teaching resolution? 2. Why did I choose my resolution? Why is it important? 3. How will my resolution improve my pedagogy?
On another note...I would love to hear your teaching resolutions for 2013. Please feel free to share if you are inclined by adding a comment to this post! :)
I am an Instructional Resource Teacher at Olds Elementary in Raleigh, NC. I believe that "TEACHING is learning!" and that teachers have Multiple Teaching Intelligences. As teachers we develop each day. I hope this site serves to aid teachers on their pedagogical journey.
